TWAEA PROMOTES THAI LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY TEST IN TAIWAN TO ADVANCE THE NEW SOUTHBOUND POLICY


Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) cooperates with the Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Songklanakarin Thai Language Centre, on implementing Thai Language Proficiency Test (Speaking Test) for the first time in Taiwan. The test was held in Taipei on 26th February, 2022 with full registration quota.

In response to the COVID-19 prevention measures announced by Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the test was conducted online. All test takers were requested to take temperature and clean their hands by disinfectant alcohol before entering the examination site. Earphones and microphones were covered by disposable earmuffs and microphone sponge covers. Whenever a participator completed the test, high touched equipment was disinfected and consumables were disposed to limit the virus spread.

In order to ensure the fairness, reliability and high quality standard, all examiners are qualified Thai language specialists, with substantial relevant teaching experience. The examiner committee members consisted of Dr. Cherdchai Udomphan (acting dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, PSU), Dr. Wimonmas Paruchakul (director of the Songklanakarin Thai Language Centre, PSU), and other Thai language faculties. Moreover, PSU appointed two Thai exam proctors from Thailand Trade and Economic Office and Thai language instructor of Chihlee University of Technology to be their representatives in this proficiency test.

The test was successfully facilitated by students, professional working staffs, international company employees and government officers. Many test takers expressed that the examiner committee members are extremely professional and kind, and it helps them have a positive test-taking experience.

The test results are scheduled to be sent out at the end of March, and the certificate will be verified by TWAEA and PSU, Songklanakarin Thai Language Centre making them credible both in Taiwan and Thailand.
