In recent years, several international evaluation associations and educational groups have visited Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) to learn about the quality assurance system and development of Taiwan’s technological and vocational education. In response to the New Southbound Policy, TWAEA has assisted domestic colleges and universities in expanding their international developments; representatives from Association of Private Universities and Colleges of Technology, Taiwan, were invited when receiving delegation of “Thai Technical and Vocational Education” from southeast Asia on 31st of July, 2018 to promote cooperation between Taiwan and Thailand’s higher education institutions.
In addition to the briefing about the status quo and future development of the evaluation system for Taiwan’s technological and vocational education, mutual understanding about the technological and vocational education of two countries was also included during the meeting. Moreover, representatives from Association of Private Universities and Colleges of Technology, Taiwan, exchanged and discussed with Thai delegation on a number of topics such as the further education, exchange, and employment of students from Taiwan and Thailand, it was a fruitful and beneficial talk to both sides.
The Thai delegation said that this trip not only achieved the purpose of the visit, but also very fruitful with what they learned from the representatives from Taiwan’s higher educational institutions. A good foundation was developed for further cooperation in the future.
In the future, while promoting the evaluation to be in line with international standards, TWAEA shall play the role in promoting Taiwan's technological and vocational education to be more internationalized. For example, TWAEA invited the principals, senior managers and the directors related to institutional research to join the visit to Japan in early October of 2018. Hopefully more opportunities can be explored for international cooperation after this visit to motivate Taiwan's higher education towards the goal of becoming more internationalized.
