TWAEA COMPLETES FIRST ON-SITE VISIT TO THAI UNIVERSITY UNDER IJAS PROJECT

From July 9-12, 2024, the Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) conducted a successful on-site visit to Nakhon Si Thammarat Rajabhat University (NSTRU) in Thailand. This marked the completion of the first on-site evaluation as part of the International Joint Accreditation Standards (iJAS) project, a collaborative effort among TWAEA, the Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA), and Thailand’s Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA).

Since 2018, TWAEA has been working in partnership with JUAA to promote the iJAS project, which has attracted participation from universities in Taiwan and Japan. This year, the initiative expanded through a new collaboration with Thailand’s ONESQA, leading to a joint on-site visit at NSTRU in southern Thailand. The review panel comprised six academic experts from Taiwan, Japan, and Thailand, representing a variety of fields. During the visit, the reviewers engaged in in-depth discussions with the university’s leadership, faculty, staff, and students. Through direct, two-way communication, the reviewers not only commended the university’s achievements but also provided practical recommendations to further enhance its international development.

The iJAS project aims to assess the quality of higher education institutions and their level of internationalization, ensuring alignment with global standards. The project seeks to improve educational activities and student learning outcomes. This milestone visit not only fostered international collaboration among Taiwan, Thailand, and Japan, but also underscored TWAEA’s commitment to advancing the internationalization of higher education.
