Started from 2017, Ministry of Education (Taiwan) has stopped to assess the institution’s departments/programs. Every institution is encouraged to hold the assessment itself or commissioned to a professional evaluation agency to implement the assessment for the promotion of the institution’s characteristics. In order to build and optimize quality assurance system, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology has applied for the “Accreditation of Degree-granting Programs Project” implemented by TWAEA.
After a thorough accreditation process, seven departments of the university obtained the certificate, including Department/Graduate Institute of Nursing, Department/Graduate Institute of Gerontology and Health Care Management, Department of Respiratory Care, Department of Child Care and Education, Department of Cosmetic Science, Department of Nutrition and Health Sciences, Graduate Institute of Health Industry Technology.
During the ceremony held on 22nd October 2018, Dr. Sui-Whi Jane, director of the Department/Graduate Institute of Nursing, shared her experiences in undertaking the accreditation project. In her viewpoint, the most important value gained from participating in the accreditation process was reviewing the overall quality assurance system within the institution from the feedbacks of external quality assurance agency.
