CROSS-BORDER COOPERATION AMONG TWAEA, JUAA AND ONESQA - SEEKING NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH

Taiwan Assessment and Evaluation Association (TWAEA) has initiated the project “Taiwan Institutional Research Cooperation” in 2016 to provide necessary information and services to higher education institutions for Institutional Research (IR) studies. In 2020, TWAEA conducted the INQAAHE Funding Scheme Capacity Building Project with Japan University Accreditation Association (JUAA) and Office for National Education Standards and Quality Assessment (ONESQA) to implement a joint investigation on students’ learning outcomes and satisfaction in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand. In total 34 institutions with 42,077 students in Taiwan, 30 institutions with 5,391 students in Japan, and 89 institutions with 4,463 students in Thailand have participated in this project.

The launch of this project represents the three agencies' focus on strengthening higher education system, and the implementation of this international survey is a breakthrough in the field of institutional research. It gives us a chance to learn about the status of higher education in each region and leads to explore our horizon of creative possibilities. TWAEA will continue promoting investigation related to IR activities, as well as assisting institutions to apply the survey results to examine and improve the effectiveness of operational activities. We also look forward to further cooperation stimulated by a proactive strategy that will allow the project to expand in Asia and beyond.
